Book of Duat — picks rewrite the feature before symbols expand

Wild counts decide the opening picks. Those picks add spins, expanding symbols or multiplier strength, and every selected symbol is evaluated separately.

Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Book of Duat by Quickspin uses five reels and ten paylines. Quickspin publishes three RTP configurations—90%, 94% and 96%—so the active value must be checked inside the game rather than assumed from a review.

Wild counts become picks

Three or more Wilds in the base game award four Free Spins. Three, four or five Wilds provide three, six or twelve opening picks respectively. The feature starts with one expanding symbol and a 1× multiplier.

During Free Spins, three or more Wilds add two spins. Three, four or five Wilds then supply one, two or four extra picks. Retrigger picks modify the feature already in progress.

The Pick and Click pool

The published pool contains spin awards, expanding-symbol awards and multiplier awards. Spin tiles comprise six +2, three +3, two +5 and one +10. Expanding-symbol tiles comprise two +1, one +2 and one +4. Multiplier tiles comprise two +1×, one +2× and one +5×.

The selected award is removed from the pool, while a type can still appear again because several tiles share the same value. If the pool is exhausted, remaining picks award three spins each.

Expansion and multiplier order

Each selected expanding symbol is evaluated separately after the ordinary payline result. It can pay when present anywhere on the reels, and the selected feature multiplier applies to Free Spin wins. Quickspin says Wilds are ignored during the extra expanding-symbol evaluation.

That order prevents double counting: settle the normal line win, then check every chosen expanding symbol, then apply the current feature multiplier as described in the live rules.

Quickspin lists feature purchases at 150×, 500× and 1,600× the stake for three, four and five Wilds respectively. Availability may depend on the casino and jurisdiction. The provider page does not confirm New Zealand access.

Before play, verify the selected RTP, bet range, volatility, maximum-win condition and whether purchase controls are present. The Quickspin catalogue guide explains the operator-evidence gap. Book of Inferno uses a different marked-symbol progression.

Base trigger matrix

Book of Duat uses the Wild as its feature trigger. Three, four or five Wilds in the base game all award four initial Free Spins, but their picker allocations differ sharply: three picks, six picks or twelve picks.

The feature also starts with one expanding symbol and a 1× multiplier before picker additions. Create a setup row containing Wild count, base spins, base expanding-symbol count, base multiplier and number of picks. Then record every chosen tile in order.

Do not convert twelve picks into twelve extra spins. Each pick selects from the mixed pool and can add spins, expanding symbols or multiplier strength. The opening state is unknown until all allocated picks have resolved.

Picker inventory accounting

The initial pool has twenty tiles: twelve spin tiles, four expanding-symbol tiles and four multiplier tiles. The spin group contains six +2, three +3, two +5 and one +10. The expansion group contains two +1, one +2 and one +4. The multiplier group contains two +1×, one +2× and one +5×.

Build an inventory table with starting quantity, selected quantity and remaining quantity for each tile. When a pick resolves, reduce only that exact tile count. Multiple copies explain why the same displayed award can appear again even though each selected tile is removed.

If all twenty tiles are exhausted while picks remain, every remaining pick adds three Free Spins. This fallback applies only after the pool is empty. Do not use +3 merely because a previously selected tile value is no longer present.

At picker close, calculate starting four spins plus all spin awards; one base expanding symbol plus all expansion awards; and 1× base multiplier plus all multiplier increments. Save those three totals before the first Free Spin.

Random expanding-symbol selection

The number of expanding symbols comes from the setup, but their identities are randomly chosen from remaining non-expanding regular symbols. Wild cannot become an expanding symbol. Record each selected identity rather than assuming the highest-paying icons are chosen.

When several expanding symbols are awarded, they remain separate identities. After a normal spin evaluation, the game evaluates each chosen symbol one at a time. During its special evaluation, that symbol expands to cover entire reels and pays anywhere; Wilds are ignored.

Create one line for normal payline credit and one additional line per selected expanding identity. If the feature has three expanding symbols, there can be three distinct extra evaluations after the normal result. Do not combine them before checking the server breakdown.

“Pay anywhere” applies to the special expanding-symbol evaluation, not to every ordinary symbol in the base or bonus game. Normal results still use ten paylines.

Multiplier application

The feature starts at 1× and picker tiles can increase it by +1×, +2× or +5×. Add increments to the running value. For example, selecting +2× and +5× from a 1× start produces 8×, subject to the live history confirming the sequence.

Quickspin says all wins in Free Spins are multiplied by the feature multiplier. Use the detailed server result to confirm its application to normal and expanding-symbol evaluations. Do not multiply a displayed cumulative total a second time.

Record the final multiplier before the first spin and any later increase from retrigger picks. New picks during Free Spins can alter the remaining feature state, so timestamp the multiplier change rather than applying the final value retrospectively.

Retrigger calculation

During Free Spins, three or more Wilds add two spins. Three, four or five Wilds also award one, two or four picks. These retrigger picks draw from the current reduced pool, not a fresh pool, according to the published removal rule for the current game round.

Record the Wild count, two-spin addition, number of picks, selected tiles and updated setup. The remaining-spin arithmetic is start - one consumed + two + picker spin awards. Expansion and multiplier tiles change their own state without directly adding spins.

If the pool has already been exhausted, each awarded pick becomes +3 spins. Four picks from a five-Wild retrigger would therefore add twelve picker spins in addition to the published two-spin retrigger, provided history confirms the exhausted state.

Purchase routes

The provider lists 150× bet for three Wilds, 500× for four and 1,600× for five. A purchase triggers a base-game spin that randomly awards at least the number of Wilds bought. “At least” matters: the resulting spin can show more, and the actual Wild count controls picks.

For a purchase audit, record selected bet, purchased tier, expected cost, actual debit, resulting Wild count, picks and initial feature state. A 150× purchase can produce more than three Wilds, so do not force the setup into the three-Wild row before seeing the trigger.

Purchase availability is operator- and jurisdiction-dependent. The provider page does not confirm it for New Zealand. A disabled control does not alter natural Wild-trigger rules.

RTP configurations

Quickspin publishes 90%, 94% and 96% models. They are alternatives. The relevant value is the one shown in the deployed game’s help, captured with Game ID and date.

Do not average the models or call 96% universal. RTP is a long-run theoretical parameter and does not predict picker results, expanding identities or a short feature return.

The public page does not state whether every purchase tier is present in each RTP configuration. Verify the live help and confirmation panel rather than assuming a relationship not published in the accessible copy.

Full feature worksheet

Start with trigger route, Wild count and picker allocation. List selected tiles and remaining inventory. Then record final starting spins, expanding identities and multiplier.

For each Free Spin, use columns for starting counter, normal line credit, each expanding-symbol credit, applied multiplier, Wild count, retrigger picks, new tiles and ending counter. Keep all records under the originating paid round.

At feature end, sum the server credits and compare them with the cumulative display and balance. For purchased entry, show the feature debit separately before calculating net movement.

Mobile and interruption checks

On a phone, the picker must show selected awards and remaining state clearly. During Free Spins, the chosen expanding symbols, multiplier and counter should remain visible. Ensure one-at-a-time evaluations can be reviewed in history after animations finish.

If connection drops during Pick and Click, reload the same round and confirm the saved tile inventory and setup. Do not start a second paid spin. The server can complete random selections even when the client animation is interrupted.

Check that purchase confirmation is separated from ordinary spin and displays the exact multiple and cost. Returning from help must not silently change the selected stake.

Confirmed scope

The source confirms five reels, ten lines, RTP models, Wild-count triggers, complete picker inventory, expanding-symbol evaluation, multiplier rule and three buy prices.

It does not confirm a New Zealand operator, NZD limits, volatility or maximum win in readable copy. Those remain deployment facts, not gaps to fill from secondary reviews.

Picker-state example

Suppose four Wilds trigger six picks. The feature starts with four spins, one expanding symbol and 1×. If the picks reveal +3 spins, +1 expanding symbol, +2×, +2 spins, +1× and +5 spins, the opening state becomes fourteen spins, two expanding symbols and 4×.

The example demonstrates addition only; actual picks are random. Remove the selected tile copies from inventory. If a duplicate value exists, reduce its remaining count rather than deleting every tile with that label.

Record the random identities of the two expanding symbols after the count is known. Their evaluations remain separate on every Free Spin.

Evaluation-order example

For one Free Spin, first settle all normal ten-line wins. Next evaluate expanding symbol A with its pay-anywhere rule while ignoring Wilds. Then evaluate expanding symbol B the same way. Finally reconcile the feature multiplier exactly as server history presents it.

Do not expand both identities simultaneously in a homemade calculation. The provider states they are evaluated one at a time. Separate rows reveal which symbol produced each credit.

If a retrigger occurs on that spin, add two spins and conduct its picks after recording the win state. Update the multiplier or expanding list only for the timing shown by the game.

Version-control questions

The live help should identify the active 90%, 94% or 96% model, stake limits, volatility, maximum-win condition and purchase availability. Capture each answer with Game ID and date.

Verify whether the operator’s history exposes individual expanding evaluations and picker results. If it does not, preserve the final server total and mark the internal allocation unavailable instead of reverse engineering it.

Confirm the purchase screen repeats 150×, 500× and 1,600× and says at least three, four or five Wilds respectively. A changed control can indicate another build.

Source separation

Book of Duat has a familiar book-slot theme, but its picker inventory and expanding-symbol sequence are title-specific. Rules from Book of Inferno or another explorer title must not be imported.

Use Quickspin’s product page as the primary mechanic source and the deployed help as the version source. Operator marketing can support availability only when it clearly names the title, location and current conditions.

The editorial artwork on this page illustrates the picker concept. It is not a reel screenshot, paytable or proof of access.

Exhausting the picker pool

The pool starts with twenty physical tiles even though several share a label. A five-Wild base trigger supplies twelve picks, so it cannot exhaust the untouched pool by itself. Later retrigger picks can consume the remaining eight and then invoke the +3-spin fallback.

Maintain a remaining-tile count after every pick. Once it reaches zero, stop drawing award types and convert each outstanding pick into three spins. Do not recreate the pool on a retrigger within the same game round.

This rule makes the sequence path-dependent. Two features with the same current number of picks can have different possible awards because their earlier selections removed different tiles.

Expanding-symbol audit grid

List every regular symbol shown in the active paytable. Mark identities chosen as expanding and remove them from the pool of eligible future identities where the live rules require unique selections. Wild remains excluded.

For each Free Spin, capture the normal reel state before expansion. Then create one evaluation row per selected identity, marking reels on which it appears. Pay-anywhere means the symbol’s special check is not constrained to the ordinary left-to-right ten-line pattern, but the server history remains the authority for its amount.

Wilds are ignored during these extra evaluations. A Wild helping a normal line must therefore not be copied into the expanding-symbol count. This is one of the most important differences between the two evaluation stages.

Multiplier-change timing

Opening picks establish the starting multiplier. Retrigger picks can increase it later. Record the value before the retrigger spin, the selected increment and the value used afterward.

Do not apply a later +5× tile to earlier Free Spins. The feature total should be reproducible as a sequence of credits under the multiplier active at each stage. If the history provides only final totals, report the observed multiplier path but avoid an invented allocation.

The increments are additive to the running multiplier according to their labels. Keep the 1× starting value in the calculation; otherwise every final multiplier will be understated by one.

Purchase-cost reconciliation

For 150×, 500× or 1,600× entry, calculate expected debit from the base bet displayed on confirmation. Compare it with the ledger before interpreting the resulting feature.

The purchased base spin awards at least the selected Wild count. Record any additional Wilds because they increase the number of picks under the normal trigger table. The purchase price remains the selected tier even if the random trigger produces more.

Do not call purchase cost a casino bonus or include it in the feature win. Keep debit, gross feature credit and net balance movement as three separate figures.

Mobile picker review

The picker should expose each selected tile and updated feature totals clearly. If the selection animation is fast, history or a summary must still show added spins, expanding count and multiplier.

During Free Spins, the identities of all expanding symbols should remain accessible without covering the reels. Test portrait and landscape and confirm that a long list does not hide the spin counter.

After reconnecting, compare remaining tile inventory where shown, current multiplier, expanding list and remaining spins. Resume only after all four states match the recovered history.

Publication close

State RTP only with the active version and date. State purchase availability only for the checked operator and location. Keep provider mechanics separate from those deployment facts.

The final article should let a reader reproduce the picker arithmetic and evaluation order without implying a likely outcome. That is the useful endpoint of the available primary evidence.

Twenty physical awards, not ten award labels

The current supplier inventory contains ten different award labels but twenty removable copies. Those are different counting units. Six copies of a +2-spin tile count as six picks, while the single +10-spin tile counts as one. Reconcile the actual inventory before applying the exhausted-pool fallback.

Award family Physical copies Sum of the printed additions
Free Spins 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 12 6×2 + 3×3 + 2×5 + 10 = 41 spins
Expanding identities 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 2×1 + 2 + 4 = 8 additions
Multiplier increments 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 2×1 + 2 + 5 = 9 increments
Complete physical pool 20 Three different state units, not one cash total

Forty-one is the sum of all printed spin awards, not a promised opening bonus. Only the tiles actually chosen add their values. Likewise, eight expansion additions and nine multiplier increments describe that inventory algebra; they do not prove a live feature reaches every possible addition before ending or resolve any identity-availability cap. Do not add spins, symbols and multipliers together as though the result were a payout.

A second inventory check uses picks rather than awards. Twelve opening picks followed by two confirmed four-pick retriggers consume exactly twenty copies: 12 + 4 + 4 = 20. None of those twenty picks is a fallback just because the final one empties the pool; that last real tile still supplies its own award. Only a later allocated pick draws from an already empty inventory. If a subsequent event grants another four picks, all four become +3 spins, while that event’s ordinary two-spin retrigger remains separate. This sequence counts removals, not the number of spins used to obtain the retriggers or their likelihood.

A four-pick retrigger can cross the exhaustion boundary

Assume a recorded bonus has already consumed eighteen of the twenty copies. Its two remaining tiles are one +1× multiplier and one +2-spin tile. The remaining-spin counter is five and the current multiplier is 5×. A completed Free Spin lands five Wilds, so the published retrigger supplies two spins and four picks.

Suppose the first pick takes the +1× tile and the second takes the +2-spin tile. The multiplier becomes 6×, two spins are added and the physical inventory reaches zero. Only the third and fourth picks use the empty-pool fallback; each adds three spins. Their combined addition is six, not twelve.

Stage Physical copies left Spin addition Multiplier after stage
Before four new picks 2 0 5×
First pick: +1× 1 0 6×
Second pick: +2 spins 0 2 6×
Third and fourth: fallback 0 3 + 3 6×

The settled duration is 5 − 1 + 2 + 2 + 6 = 14: consume the completed spin, add the ordinary two-spin retrigger, add the actual spin tile and then add the two fallback awards. Converting all four picks to +3 would skip two real tiles and incorrectly produce eighteen remaining spins. Forgetting the ordinary retrigger addition would instead understate the correct counter by two.

The worksheet assumes this remaining inventory and selection order were actually documented. It does not estimate the likelihood of those choices or impose the changed multiplier on earlier wins. Nor does an empty award pool reset the expanding-symbol list or multiplier: the fallback supplies spins only, leaving their separate recorded states intact unless active help establishes another change.

Official source

Bottom line: record the Wild count, picker results, expanding-symbol list and multiplier before interpreting the Free Spins outcome.

How to verify the version you can actually open

A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.

Start with identity, then configuration

Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Quickspin, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.

When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.

Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration

Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.

Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.

Keep simulation figures in their proper scope

A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.

Audit a disputed round

If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.

Read the paytable as a calculation document

The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.

Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.

Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round

Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.

Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.

Confirm market and device behaviour independently

A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.

On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.

Keep a compact evidence record

For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.

Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.

Use limits that survive the feature design

Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.

No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.

Primary source and correction path

This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
