Windy City by Endorphina: Scatter-to-Wild Free Games guide
Windy City's car Scatter starts ten retriggerable Free Games and then changes role by substituting as a Wild during the feature. This guide tracks the transformation without double counting.
Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Windy City is a five-reel, three-row slot with ten paylines. Endorphina publishes 96.05% RTP, low volatility and a €0.10–€200 reference range. The Don is the standard Wild. Three or more car Scatters trigger ten Free Games, where the car also substitutes as a Wild, and the feature can retrigger.
The role change is the central verification point. A car is Scatter in the trigger evaluation and gains Wild behaviour during Free Games. It should not be counted twice unless the active help and result panel show separate components.

Treat this as dated supplier evidence, not an operator offer. Confirm the loaded title, version, RTP, currency and stake ladder. The official euro limits must not be relabelled as New Zealand dollars.
Base-game line settlement
Ordinary wins use ten numbered payline paths. The Don substitutes for regular symbols; the product description excludes the Scatter from substitution. Five Don Wilds are listed at 500× base bet, while five female character symbols are shown at 100× and five gangster symbols at 50×.
Those are base-bet examples. Check whether the live interface defines base bet through line stake, coin value or another unit. Trace one simple line at the lowest suitable setting before applying the larger paytable figures.
Cars count anywhere for the trigger, so they do not need to align on a payline. Record their positions and the feature counter independently from ordinary line wins.
Free Games and the transformed car
Three car symbols start ten Free Games. During the feature, the Scatter also acts as a Wild and can substitute for other symbols. The public summary does not say that it stops being Scatter, so any combined role must be resolved by the deployed rules and highlighted result.
Build a ledger with one row per Free Game: car count, whether the counter increased, lines using a car as substitute, Don Wild positions, line awards and cumulative credit. This separates retrigger evidence from substitution evidence.
Do not assign an extra Wild multiplier merely because a car completed a line. Substitution changes the symbol match. Only a factor explicitly shown in the paytable should multiply the resulting award.
Retrigger audit
Record the counter before and after every feature round. When additional cars appear, note the number of rounds added exactly as shown. Avoid assuming the retrigger always awards the original ten unless the current help confirms it.
At feature end, total the recorded rounds and compare their credits with the summary screen. If the operator groups the sequence under one transaction, preserve the trigger round ID so support can retrieve all linked results.
Fast animations can make a car look like a decorative vehicle. A valid record includes the settled reel coordinates, not just a cinematic cutaway.
Risk Game and Bonus Pop
The official feature list includes Risk Game and Bonus Pop. Risk occurs after an eligible win and has its own loss possibility. Keep it outside the Free Games total. Bonus Pop may depend on operator and jurisdiction; document its price and any RTP disclosure only when it is actually present.
For a clean mechanical test, decline Risk and avoid optional purchases. First establish how the car changes role and how the counter handles retriggers.
RTP, low volatility and stake context
The 96.05% RTP is a theoretical long-run rate, not a return guaranteed for ten Free Games or a session. The live help may show another approved profile. Capture that value before play.
Low volatility is a studio category and does not prevent losing streaks. The dramatic city theme and frequent line highlights do not change the independence of paid rounds. Set a budget and duration in advance.
The €0.10–€200 range is an Endorphina reference. If an NZD build is available, its authenticated controls determine the real limits and increments.
Mobile and support checks
On mobile, make sure car and Don symbols remain distinguishable, the line overlay is readable and the Free Games counter stays visible. Test both orientations and use the symbol legend rather than colour alone.
For support, save the active RTP, software version, round ID, timestamp, total stake, car coordinates, retrigger additions, substituted lines and balances before and after. A result-history export is preferable to a screenshot captured during motion.
The studio demo can help identify controls but does not prove operator availability in New Zealand. Real-money access and account-specific settings require a separate check.
Final assessment
A two-role symbol worksheet
Create one column labelled “base-game car” and another labelled “feature car”. In the base game, log every car as Scatter and count it anywhere on the reels. In Free Games, also note every line on which the car substitutes. This prevents its two roles from being collapsed into a single undefined bonus.
The Don remains the ordinary Wild. If a line contains both Don and car during Free Games, trace the original symbol requirement and use the active paytable once. Two substituting symbols do not automatically mean two multipliers. The provider describes substitution, not an extra factor for each special icon.
For a retrigger, save the counter immediately before the car result and after the new rounds are added. Continue numbering feature rounds rather than restarting the sheet. At the end, the recorded number of rounds should equal the starting ten plus all extensions.
If the result panel shows a Scatter payment and a line award in the same Free Game, keep both labelled. The transaction history may combine them into one credit, but the audit should show the rules that produced each part.
Base-bet examples without exaggeration
Five Don Wilds are published at 500× base bet, a larger displayed figure than the female character’s 100× and gangster’s 50×. This does not establish a 500× total-stake maximum or a likely result. It is one symbol combination under the provider’s base-bet unit.
To test the unit, record total stake and any line-bet or coin-value controls. Find a simple ordinary win and compare the paytable multiple with its displayed currency award. Only after the formula reconciles should the 500× example be discussed in money terms.
Do not combine the 500× Wild pay with a car substitution unless the exact settled line contains the required five Wild symbols under the rules. Thematic importance is irrelevant to paytable arithmetic.
Updating the review when a build changes
On a later audit, compare the title, version, RTP, ten-line map, Free Games count, retrigger wording and car behaviour. Preserve screenshots for both the old and new build. A changed configuration should be dated and described, not silently merged into the existing text.
If the operator removes Bonus Pop or Risk, the core car feature can remain unchanged. Conversely, a new optional button does not prove the base game’s RTP stayed the same. Check each field independently.
Support-ready evidence package
A concise package contains the round ID, timestamp with timezone, currency, total stake, balance before and after, active RTP, trigger grid, selected feature counter and full result history. For a car acting as Wild, include the line number and paytable symbol it replaced.
Explain the issue in one sentence: for example, “The car on reel three was shown as a substitute on line seven, but the settled line award did not match the displayed paytable.” This is clearer than describing the whole session and gives support a testable claim.
Do not share login credentials, full payment details or identity documents in public comments. Use authenticated support for account evidence and retain redacted copies for editorial correction records.
A first-round verification routine
Before spinning, locate the Don Wild, car Scatter, ten-line map and Free Games rules. Confirm total stake and currency, then open history once so its location is known. This avoids searching for evidence after a time-limited result screen disappears.
During the first feature, leave auto-play and Risk inactive. Record the counter and every car position, even when no line win occurs. A car can be relevant to retrigger evaluation without producing a substituted line. Conversely, a substituted line may use a car without adding rounds if the Scatter threshold is not met.
After the feature, verify that the car returns to its base-game Scatter role. If the next paid round still shows Wild behaviour, compare the software version and contact support rather than assuming the feature persists.
Windy City uses a compact ten-line format with a useful role-change mechanic: the car triggers Free Games as Scatter and then acts as a substitute during the feature. The official page supports 96.05% RTP, low volatility, the euro range, ten starting rounds and retriggering.
The live rules remain decisive for combined Scatter/Wild evaluation, retrigger awards and deployed RTP. A counter-and-line ledger provides clearer evidence than the 1930s animation.

How to verify the version you can actually open
A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.
Start with identity, then configuration
Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Endorphina, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.
When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.
Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration
Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.
Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.
Keep simulation figures in their proper scope
A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.
Audit a disputed round
If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.
Read the paytable as a calculation document
The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.
Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.
Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round
Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.
Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.
Confirm market and device behaviour independently
A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.
On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.
Keep a compact evidence record
For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.
Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.
Use limits that survive the feature design
Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.
No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.
Primary source and correction path
This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
