Solar Eclipse by Endorphina: Sun, Moon and expanding-symbol rules
Solar Eclipse turns a compact three-reel game into a feature with two kinds of expansion. This guide separates the outer-reel Eclipse Wild from the special expanding symbol used in Free Games.
Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Solar Eclipse uses a 3×3 grid and five paylines. Endorphina publishes 96.04% RTP, high volatility and a €0.05–€50 reference stake range. The Sun and Moon appearing together form the Solar Eclipse trigger and award 20 Free Games with a special expanding symbol.
The official values belong to the provider profile checked on 8 October 2026. They are not proof of New Zealand operator access, NZD limits or the exact setting loaded by an account.

The compact layout does not make every relationship obvious. The Sun and Moon Wilds, the combined Solar Eclipse Wild and the feature’s selected expanding symbol have different roles. Record them by name and position.
Five-line base game
Ordinary matching symbols pay on enabled lines across adjacent reels from the left. Scatters count anywhere, and line plus Scatter wins can be added. Only the highest valid combination per enabled line is paid.
The man symbol is a published high-pay example: three award 60× base bet. The complete current paytable should be used for all other symbols. Establish how base bet relates to total stake before turning 60× into a currency amount.
With only three reels, the full line overlay can fit on one screenshot. Keep it beside a settled result and mark which path the game highlights. A horizontal visual match may not be a winning line if it sits on a different path.
Sun and Moon trigger
Sun and Moon are Wild symbols that appear only on reels one and three. Each substitutes for ordinary symbols except Scatter. When both appear, the Moon covers the Sun and creates the Solar Eclipse symbol, launching 20 Free Games.
Capture the trigger before and after the transformation. The first frame proves the Sun and Moon positions; the second shows the Eclipse state and the opening counter. Do not call any single outer-reel Wild a feature trigger.
The provider says the feature uses the same bet and lines as the initiating game. Save the pre-trigger stake and feature information panel so the absence of per-spin debits can be verified.
Solar Eclipse Wild and outer-reel multipliers
The Solar Eclipse symbol substitutes for all symbols. It appears on reels one and three and expands vertically to complete combinations involving the special expanding symbol. If one outer reel is covered, the relevant win is multiplied by two; if both are covered, it is multiplied by five.
These factors should not be applied to every feature credit automatically. Record which outer reels are visibly covered, which lines qualify and where the result panel applies the multiplier. A ×5 state replaces the one-reel ×2 treatment for the qualifying result; it is not ×2 plus ×5 unless current help explicitly says so.
If Eclipse symbols appear simultaneously on reels one and three, the provider says fifteen additional Free Games are triggered. They continue with the same bet and lines. Capture the counter change so the added spins are not confused with the original twenty.
Special expanding symbol in Free Games
During the feature, a selected special symbol can expand. The official description states that expanded symbols pay for combinations of a kind in adjacent and non-adjacent positions, but only on enabled paylines. That is a notable departure from the base game’s adjacent-from-left reading.
Identify the selected symbol at feature start. For each expansion, mark its positions, the enabled lines crossing them and the displayed award. “Non-adjacent” does not mean anywhere on the screen without line constraints; the symbols still have to occupy qualifying positions on enabled paths.
Keep the special expanding symbol separate from Eclipse Wild expansion on the outer reels. One broadens the chosen symbol’s coverage inside Free Games; the other substitutes and supplies the ×2 or ×5 outer-reel treatment.
A chronological feature ledger
Create columns for free-spin number, selected special symbol, Sun position, Moon position, Eclipse reel coverage, expansion coordinates, highlighted lines, multiplier and credit. Add the counter before and after any fifteen-spin retrigger.
This order matters because the animation may combine the Moon-over-Sun transformation, reel expansion and symbol expansion in a few seconds. A final screenshot alone may not show which event caused which factor.
At the end, add the individual credits and compare them with the feature summary. Then compare that total with the server history entry. If the interface groups the trigger payment into the same record, label it rather than adding a second copy.
Risk game and optional controls
Classic Risk can allow up to ten double-or-nothing decisions after an eligible win. It sits after the slot settlement, so a Risk outcome should never be used to explain the five-line paytable or Eclipse multiplier.
Bonus Pop is listed for the title but can be jurisdiction-dependent. When shown, read the confirmation panel for cost, feature entered, active RTP and exclusions. A studio tag does not establish that the option is enabled in a New Zealand account.
For initial verification, decline Risk and paid shortcuts. Natural trigger evidence gives the clearest view of the published rules.
RTP, high volatility and the euro range
The 96.04% RTP is a theoretical long-run value for the cited profile. It does not forecast eclipse frequency or the result of twenty Free Games. The live help should be checked for an active RTP value or configuration identifier.
High volatility is the provider’s label. It signals that short outcomes may vary sharply, not that a large result becomes likely after a quiet sequence. Do not chase the feature or increase stakes because the Sun and Moon have not appeared together.
The €0.05–€50 range is a supplier reference in euros. It is not an NZD limit and should not be converted into an operator claim. Save the actual account currency and total debit.
Mobile and demo checks
The provider page can offer a demo and states mobile compatibility. A demo is useful for reading the compact line map and observing symbol labels, but it does not prove real-money availability or configuration equivalence.
On a phone, check that all three rows, feature counter, selected special symbol, stake and multiplier remain visible. The Sun and Moon sit on outer reels, so cropping or overlays must not hide reels one or three. Test the help in portrait and landscape.
Find history before paid play. Save the exact title, version, RTP, currency, limits, domain, date and optional-control status. For a disputed feature, add the round ID, trigger frames, counter changes and final credit.
Common interpretation errors
- Treating one Sun or Moon as a feature trigger.
- Applying ×2 or ×5 to the complete feature without evidence.
- Adding ×2 and ×5 together for both covered reels.
- Ignoring paylines when the selected symbol pays non-adjacently.
- Confusing the selected expanding symbol with Eclipse Wild expansion.
- Assuming every operator uses 96.04%.
- Presenting the euro range as NZD.
Testing the non-adjacent feature rule
The special expanding symbol deserves a controlled demo check because its feature rule is unlike the base evaluation. Wait for a result where matching expanded symbols occupy separated reels or rows, then save both the grid and the highlighted payline. The line overlay should explain why the positions qualify even though the matching icons are not adjacent in the ordinary sense.
Repeat the check with a visually similar group that does not sit on an enabled path. The absence of a payment is equally useful evidence: it shows that “non-adjacent” has not removed the payline requirement. Do not spend money trying to force these two examples; a permitted official demo or an organically occurring feature is sufficient.
For editorial updates, quote the rule in a short paraphrase and link the official source. Avoid reducing it to “symbols pay anywhere”, which is broader than the published wording and could mislead a reader about off-line positions.
Rechecking an Eclipse retrigger
When Eclipse symbols occupy both outer reels during Free Games, capture the counter before any celebratory overlay appears. Then capture the displayed addition and restored counter. A fifteen-spin increase should be visible as a counter change, not inferred from how long the animation lasts.
If the operator history lists only the parent feature, preserve a screen recording or consecutive screenshots with timestamps. Never open a second paid feature merely to reproduce a missing frame. The original round ID, final count and server credit are the safer support package.
Final assessment
Solar Eclipse is a small-grid game with a layered feature. The critical distinction is between Sun/Moon formation, outer-reel Eclipse Wild expansion and the separately selected expanding symbol used during Free Games.
The official page supports the 3×3, five-line profile, 96.04% RTP, high volatility, twenty-spin trigger, ×2/×5 coverage and fifteen-spin retrigger. Current help and round history remain decisive for the live build.

How to verify the version you can actually open
A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.
Start with identity, then configuration
Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Endorphina, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.
When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.
Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration
Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.
Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.
Keep simulation figures in their proper scope
A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.
Audit a disputed round
If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.
Read the paytable as a calculation document
The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.
Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.
Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round
Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.
Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.
Confirm market and device behaviour independently
A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.
On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.
Keep a compact evidence record
For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.
Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.
Use limits that survive the feature design
Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.
No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.
Primary source and correction path
This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
