Retromania by Endorphina: Nostalgy board bonus and game rules
A practical guide to the nine-line slot, its three-drum board feature, stop condition, Wild exclusions and published game settings.
Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Retromania is a five-reel, three-row slot with nine paylines. Endorphina publishes 96.04% RTP, low volatility and a supplier stake range of €0.09–€180. The central mechanic is the Nostalgy Bonus Game: three or more Star symbols appearing in succession from the leftmost reel start a board-style sequence lasting up to three rounds.
The facts below were checked against Endorphina’s product page on 8 October 2026. They describe supplier documentation, not a promise that the title is available in New Zealand, that NZD stakes match euro metadata or that every operator deploys the same optional controls.
Published configuration
| Field | Official value |

| Volatility | Low |
| Supplier range | €0.09–€180 |
| Bonus trigger | 3+ Stars in succession from reel one |
| Bonus length | Up to 3 rounds |
| Wild | Girl; excludes Star and Typewriter |
The nine-line format matters. A group of matching pictures does not pay merely because it appears somewhere on the grid. Open the live paytable, identify the enabled line, and follow adjacent positions from the first reel. The server’s highlighted route and round record decide a disputed result.
How the Nostalgy trigger works
The official rule requires at least three Stars in succession beginning on the leftmost reel. A Star on reels two, three and four without one on reel one is therefore not the documented trigger. Preserve the complete stopping grid whenever the visual celebration and the actual rule appear inconsistent.
Once opened, the feature presents a board with three central reels and an outer moving frame. The central symbols must match the corresponding pictures travelling around that frame. A successful match progresses the sequence; a stop icon ends it. Because the feature can last for up to three rounds, “three rounds guaranteed” would be inaccurate.
A clean board-game audit
Start with the parent spin ID and photograph the three or more triggering Stars. For each feature step, note the three centre-reel results, the outer-frame positions, whether a match occurred, the amount added and the control offered next. Finish with the feature total and compare it with the wallet credit.
Do not add every animated number. Board games often show interim counters, line awards and a final total on separate screens. Only the settled total belongs in balance reconciliation. If the stop icon appears, record its exact position rather than saying the feature “randomly disappeared”.
Wild rules and exclusions
The Girl is Wild and substitutes for ordinary paying symbols, but not for the Star or Typewriter. This is an important restriction: the Wild cannot manufacture the bonus trigger or complete the Typewriter’s top line. Five Wilds are listed at 222 times the base bet.
The Typewriter pays 555 times base bet for five on a valid payline, while the Radio pays 55 times. These are selected symbol awards, not proof of a maximum-win ceiling. Converting either figure into money requires the game’s own base-bet definition and the total stake shown for that round.
RTP, volatility and session expectations
The 96.04% RTP is a theoretical long-run value for the documented configuration. It is not a return promised to one player, one session or a particular deposit. Low volatility describes the intended distribution relative to the provider’s own scale; it does not eliminate losing sequences or make the bonus predictable.
When checking an operator deployment, save the title, game ID, version, displayed RTP and time. If the loader shows a different percentage, report the live figure and the supplier page as separately scoped evidence. Never average two configurations into a number that neither source publishes.
Stakes and currency
Endorphina lists €0.09–€180. That range does not establish NZD availability or equivalent endpoints after currency conversion. Operators can use different denominations, increments and jurisdictional caps. The only actionable range is the one shown inside the authenticated game before a round.
Nine paylines also create a common unit error. “Bet per line”, coin value and total stake may not be interchangeable. Change one control, observe the total, then record the relationship. A monetary example is useful only when the chosen denomination and all nine line commitments are explicit.
Risk Game and Bonus Pop
The feature list includes a classic Risk Game and Bonus Pop. A post-win gamble is a new exposure, not a continuation that preserves the original award. Record the pre-risk prize, amount exposed, selection, result and final account credit.
Bonus Pop can vary by market or operator. If visible, document price, confirmation screen, entry state and any separate RTP disclosure. Its presence on a provider page does not prove it is available in New Zealand, and paid entry does not reveal the natural frequency of the Nostalgy feature.
Mobile and demo checks
Endorphina identifies mobile support. On a narrow screen, verify that all five reels, total stake, line information, feature board and stop status remain readable without horizontal clipping. Rotate once and check that a layout change does not reset an unfinished feature.
The provider demo is useful for learning the terminology and board sequence. Demo credits cannot confirm real-money access, local limits or the exact configuration attached to a casino account. Treat demo observations as interface evidence only.
Worked verification example
Suppose Stars land on reels one, two and three. Save the base-game grid and round ID before the animation covers it. In the board sequence, make one ledger row per stage: central reel pictures, outer-frame pictures, match or miss, displayed award and remaining stage status.
If stage two lands a stop icon, the correct record is “feature ended at the documented stop state”, not “two of three promised rounds were removed”. The official wording sets a maximum of three rounds. Reconcile the terminal total with history before drawing a conclusion.
Common reading mistakes
One mistake is counting any three Stars. The published condition includes both succession and the leftmost starting position. Another is allowing the Girl Wild to replace a Star or Typewriter. Both are excluded. A third is interpreting 555x as the whole game’s universal cap when it is simply the listed five-Typewriter line award.
The nostalgic props are presentation, not mechanical evidence. A radio or typewriter animation cannot change the payline result unless the help table says it does. Likewise, the board’s outer motion should not be interpreted as a skill test; the official page does not claim player timing changes the outcome.
Evidence to preserve
For ordinary spins, keep UTC time, game ID, version, currency, denomination, total stake, opening and closing balances, grid, active line and line calculation. For the bonus, add triggering Stars, each centre-reel stop, outer-frame state, stop icon, feature total and wallet credit.
Crop public screenshots only after retaining originals privately. Remove usernames, account numbers and payment information before sharing. A useful support case needs identifiers and chronology, not exposed personal data.
Reading the three-drum display
Treat the board as a sequence of discrete states. Pause after the central drums settle, identify their left-to-right order, then compare each with the outer frame. A near match, adjacent picture or matching colour has no documented value unless the game records it as a successful pair. This discipline is more reliable than trying to reconstruct a fast animation from memory.
If accessibility settings or a slow connection make the frame difficult to read, use round history before continuing. The game result should remain explainable without sound. Note any mismatch between the visual board total and the credited amount, but allow for the possibility that the screen shows a cumulative figure rather than a new award.
Questions for operator support
Ask which RTP configuration is attached to Retromania in your account, how the displayed total stake maps to the nine lines, and whether Bonus Pop or the Risk Game changes any theoretical-return disclosure. If a feature is interrupted, provide parent round ID and last recorded board state.
Request the child-round log and terminal credit rather than a generic explanation of randomness. If the live title or version differs from Endorphina’s current page, ask support to identify the deployed build. That distinction makes the answer reproducible.
Short answers
How many paylines does Retromania have? Endorphina publishes nine.
What starts the bonus? At least three Stars in succession from the leftmost reel.
Are three rounds guaranteed? No. The feature can run for up to three rounds and a stop icon ends it.
Can the Girl replace the Star? No. The Girl Wild excludes Star and Typewriter.
Is 96.04% my expected session return? No. It is a long-run theoretical reference for the documented build.
Does the euro range apply in New Zealand? Not automatically. Check the authenticated game’s currency and limits.
Final assessment
Retromania is easiest to evaluate when the review separates its compact nine-line base game from the multi-stage Nostalgy board. Its key facts are the left-anchored Star trigger, match-based board sequence, stop icon and narrowly defined Wild.
Before play, confirm the active RTP, total-stake unit and optional features. After a bonus, preserve every stage and use the account history—not the animation—to establish the settled result.

How to verify the version you can actually open
A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.
Start with identity, then configuration
Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Endorphina, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.
When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.
Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration
Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.
Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.
Keep simulation figures in their proper scope
A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.
Audit a disputed round
If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.
Read the paytable as a calculation document
The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.
Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.
Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round
Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.
Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.
Confirm market and device behaviour independently
A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.
On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.
Keep a compact evidence record
For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.
Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.
Use limits that survive the feature design
Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.
No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.
Primary source and correction path
This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
