Book of Santa family: expanding symbols in the original and Dice editions

Both official editions publish the same grid, lines and RTP. Their shared feature is simple to state but easy to miscount because expanded symbols can pay on non-adjacent reels.

Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Book of Santa and Book of Santa Dice are separate Endorphina products covered by one family review. Their official pages publish the same baseline: 5 reels, 3 rows, 10 paylines, 96.05% RTP, high volatility and a €0.10–€45 reference stake range. Both are marked Approved.

The original uses illustrated Christmas symbols; Dice embeds festive objects in ruby dice. Shared mathematics does not remove the need to identify the loaded build. Save the exact title and product ID before applying a rule or attaching a screenshot.

Book symbol and base play

The Book acts as Scatter and Wild. The Dice page explicitly says its Wild substitution applies in the main game. For line wins, use the current 10-line map and live paytable; do not infer a route from visual adjacency alone.

Three or more Books trigger ten Free Games with a special expanding symbol. Five Books carry a published 200× base-bet award. A trigger may therefore involve both a Scatter payment and entry to the feature. Record those components separately before checking how the transaction combines them.

The original page identifies Santa as the highest-paying regular symbol at 500× base bet for five of a kind, followed by bells at 200× and stars at 75×. Dice identifies Santa at 500× and a candy die at 200×. Those symbol differences are a reason to keep product identity visible even when the feature structure matches.

Expanding-symbol selection

At the beginning of Free Games, the software randomly selects a special expanding symbol. Record the selected symbol before the first feature spin. It may expand after ordinary-symbol payouts to cover three positions on any reel where it landed.

Expansion is conditional: the official description says it activates only when enough selected symbols are present for a win. A single selected symbol should not be described as a guaranteed full reel. Preserve the stopped grid and show the count that qualified.

Expanded symbols can pay on non-adjacent positions, but only on enabled paylines. That exception does not remove the line map. To audit a payment, mark every reel carrying the selected symbol after expansion, then identify the enabled line or lines used by the game.

Retrigger rules

Free Games can be won again during the feature. When additional Books land, record the Book count, remaining games before the event and the updated counter. Do not present a retrigger as a new paid session.

The source does not justify a universal statement about an unlimited number of retriggers or a fixed maximum feature length. If the live help contains a cap, quote that current build. Otherwise, state only that retriggering is supported.

When a Book substitutes in the base game, distinguish that role from its Scatter count. During Free Games, confirm the exact help wording rather than assuming all Wild behaviour remains identical after a special symbol has been selected.

Original versus Dice presentation

The original and Dice editions share their published grid, line count, RTP, volatility, stake reference, Book trigger and expanding-symbol sequence. Their ordinary symbol presentations differ. A review can compare readability without inventing a performance difference.

On a small screen, the original illustrations may be easier for some readers to distinguish, while the Dice edition groups imagery inside similarly shaped red objects. That is a usability observation to test, not a mathematical verdict. Check contrast, paytable labels and the selected-symbol indicator in the exact build.

Never use an original-edition screenshot to document a Dice round. The canonical article combines the family for search and comparison, while evidence remains edition-specific.

RTP and high volatility

The 96.05% value is the provider’s theoretical long-run figure for both checked pages. It does not guarantee a return in ten Free Games or any short session. High volatility describes distribution, not the timing of Books or expanded wins.

If an operator build shows another setting, attach that value to its own source and date. Do not average the two or silently replace the provider baseline. If help omits RTP, leave the deployment field unconfirmed.

The €0.10–€45 range is expressed in euro. It cannot be copied into an NZD table. The account’s currency and stake selector, where lawful access exists, decide the actual debit.

Risk and Bonus Pop

The official pages list Risk Game and Bonus Pop. Both are optional controls and may vary by jurisdiction or integration. Before entering Risk, save the ordinary settled win. For Bonus Pop, capture its price, starting feature state and any RTP disclosure.

A purchased feature remains paid play and should be included in the same money limit. It does not make an expanding symbol more predictable. Absence of the button in a checked build should be reported as unavailability for that context.

Mobile and demo method

The provider links demos for both editions and states mobile availability. Demo use can show where the rules and line map are located when access is permitted. It cannot prove real-money access in New Zealand or match an operator configuration automatically.

Test portrait and landscape before starting. All five reels, selected expanding symbol, remaining games and total stake should be visible. If the special-symbol marker disappears behind a browser bar, note the layout limitation.

After backgrounding the device, confirm the round ID before continuing. A resumed animation and a new spin are different events; transaction history should resolve any uncertainty.

Evidence checklist for one feature

Begin with edition name, product ID, help version, currency, total stake and line map. Capture the three-or-more Book trigger and its payment. Save the selected expanding symbol before the first Free Game.

For every qualifying spin, keep the pre-expansion grid, ordinary payment, expanded reels, enabled winning lines and updated feature total. Record retriggers in a separate counter column. At completion, compare the feature summary with the wallet transaction rather than adding them together.

If balances do not reconcile, stop playing and preserve the smallest useful set of evidence: round ID, timestamp and zone, relevant grids, help page and transaction entry. Remove personal data before contacting support.

How to compare the two editions fairly

A side-by-side comparison should begin with settings, not artwork. Open the original and Dice help screens and record product ID, RTP, currency, minimum total debit, line map and maximum-win wording. If those fields match the provider baseline, the meaningful editorial comparison becomes readability: how quickly can a reader recognise Books, identify the selected expanding symbol and trace a non-adjacent line on the intended device?

Next, compare one complete feature from each build without treating the outcomes as a performance sample. The purpose is to test the interface and evidence trail, not to decide which randomly paid more. Note where the selected symbol is displayed, whether retriggers update the counter clearly, how expanded reels are highlighted and whether transaction history exposes a stable round ID.

Finally, keep omissions visible. If one live build does not show Bonus Pop, an RTP value or a clear maximum-win rule, do not fill the gap from the other edition. Shared provider specifications are useful orientation, but deployment-specific claims require deployment-specific evidence.

New Zealand boundary

The Endorphina pages list the games and supplier jurisdictions, but they do not confirm an NZ operator catalogue. Approved status belongs to the provider record and is not a substitute for local operator evidence.

Do not state that either edition is playable for real money in New Zealand without checking an eligible account and current terms. Do not recommend location workarounds. Unverified access should remain labelled unconfirmed.

Questions about the family

Do both editions have 96.05% provider RTP?

Yes. Both official pages showed that value on the check date. Live help is still needed for a deployment claim.

How many Free Games are awarded?

Three or more Books trigger ten Free Games, and the feature can retrigger.

Can expanded symbols pay when reels are not adjacent?

Yes, according to the provider description, but only on enabled paylines and only when enough symbols qualify.

Is the euro range an NZD limit?

No. It is a supplier reference in euro.

Final assessment

Book of Santa’s main audit problem is not complexity but precision. The reviewer must identify the edition, keep Scatter and Wild roles separate, preserve the randomly selected symbol and connect non-adjacent expansions to enabled lines.

One family URL avoids redundant articles while edition-specific evidence prevents the original and Dice builds from being blurred together. Live help and transaction history remain decisive.

How to verify the version you can actually open

A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.

Start with identity, then configuration

Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Endorphina, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.

When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.

Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration

Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.

Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.

Keep simulation figures in their proper scope

A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.

Audit a disputed round

If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.

Read the paytable as a calculation document

The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.

Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.

Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round

Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.

Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.

Confirm market and device behaviour independently

A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.

On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.

Keep a compact evidence record

For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.

Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.

Use limits that survive the feature design

Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.

No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.

Primary source and correction path

This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
