Viking Voyage rules and locked-reel guide

A primary-source explanation of Golden King stacks, sequential reel locks, Longboat free spins, buy-in coins and the settings that still require live Help.

Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Viking Voyage is listed by Betsoft as live from 30 April 2019. The official page documents five reels, ten paylines, 95.85% RTP, high volatility and an 18.49% hit rate. Its central mechanics are full-height Golden King Wild stacks, locking respins, two-Longboat free spins and a configurable Feature Buy-in.

The studio page does not expose the full paytable, stake range, build number or maximum win in accessible text. This guide therefore separates verified rules from deployment fields that remain unavailable.

Golden King substitution

The Golden King appears on reels one through four in stacks of up to three and substitutes for any symbol, including the Raven Scatter. That explicit Scatter substitution is unusual enough to verify carefully in Help; it should not be transferred to another title.

When a King stack contributes to several lines, trace each of the ten patterns and identify the symbol being substituted. A partial stack can work as a Wild without necessarily creating the respin feature.

The 18.49% hit rate does not mean a Golden King appears at that frequency. It covers the model’s registered awards and cannot be used to schedule a feature.

Full-height stacks and sequential locks

A full-height Golden King stack locks its reel and respins the other reels. If another full stack appears during that respin, the new reel locks and the remaining reels spin again. The sequence can therefore reduce the number of moving reels step by step.

Create a state table with one column per reel. Mark the first locked King, every subsequent lock and which reels continue to move. The original stake belongs to the whole sequence; a respin is not another paid round unless the client deducts a new stake contrary to the documented feature.

The official page does not state how the sequence ends when no new full stack appears or how overlapping line wins are timed. The loaded history must supply that settlement order.

Longboat free spins

The Longboat appears only on reels one and five. Landing the ship symbol on both outer reels in the same spin starts 15 free spins. This is a positional trigger, so a ship on another reel should not be counted.

Record both Longboats, the opening feature counter and the first free-spin grid. The accessible official page does not explain retriggers or a special modifier inside the free spins. Do not invent one from the theme, trailer or another Viking release.

Because the Golden King can substitute for the Raven Scatter, do not assume it can replace a Longboat as well. The page names the Longboat separately and restricts its reels; only live Help can establish any substitution interaction.

Feature Buy-in and zero-cost wording

Betsoft documents a Feature Buy-in for free spins. A special coin symbol can reduce the purchase cost, and enough coins can lower it to zero. That does not mean the game routinely offers free spins without conditions.

If enabled, photograph the quoted price before confirmation and record coin count, discount and final price. The feature may be disabled by jurisdiction or operator configuration. Its presence on the global product page does not prove availability in New Zealand.

A zero displayed price still needs a clear confirmation screen and should not be described as a bonus from the operator. It is a game mechanic tied to the documented coin condition.

Worked lock sequence

Suppose reel two lands a full-height King. Reel two freezes and reels one, three, four and five respin. A full-height King then lands on reel four, so reels two and four remain fixed while the others respin again.

Record awards after each stage only if history shows they are settled then. If the client waits for the feature to stop, preserve intermediate grids but calculate the final result from the official breakdown. The sequence is one state machine, not several unrelated spins.

Partial King symbols may still substitute in line evaluation. Keep their Wild role separate from the full-height trigger to avoid treating every King appearance as a lock.

RTP, volatility and missing maximum

The official product page states 95.85% RTP and high volatility. It does not state a maximum multiplier or stake range in accessible text. Those values remain unavailable pending the exact Help file.

If an operator client shows another RTP, document operator, date and build. Do not average values. A provider listing is studio-global evidence, while the loaded Help describes the tested deployment.

High volatility and a low hit-rate figure justify conservative session limits. Neither predicts when a full King stack, Longboat pair or discount coin will appear.

Mobile and accessibility checks

On mobile, full-height stacks should remain identifiable without the roar animation. A persistent lock state must be visible while other reels move. Check the ten-line diagram, total stake and feature price at 390-pixel width.

If connection is lost mid-respin, reopen history before starting another round. Record the original stake, first locked reel, later locks, line awards and final credit under one round ID.

Sound should not be required to identify a King lock. Longboat positions and coin discounts need textual or icon labels with sufficient contrast.

Demo and NZ availability

Betsoft links an official demo. The sponsored routes in this article are not that demo. Studio rules do not prove access from New Zealand or listing at 22Bet.

Confirm country terms, authenticated catalogue and loaded Help. If buy-in is missing, describe the tested configuration rather than claiming the provider removed it globally.

Who may prefer this format

Viking Voyage may suit readers who like persistent reel states and a feature sequence that can be followed visually. It may be less suitable for someone who wants a published maximum, low volatility or a simple fixed bonus trigger.

The possibility of reducing a buy-in to zero should never be used to chase coins. Set a limit before opening the control and treat each paid spin as independent.

Evidence checklist

Distinguishing three Golden King states

The King can be recorded as absent, partial stack or full-height stack. An absent King has no substitution role. A partial stack may substitute on one or more line positions but does not satisfy the public full-height respin wording. A full stack substitutes and also locks its reel before the others respin.

Create a five-cell timeline for each animation stage. Use M for moving, K for a locked King reel and S for a partial substituting stack. A sequence might read M-K-M-M-M, then M-K-M-K-M. This notation makes it clear that the second lock extends the same feature rather than starting a fresh paid round.

Beside the timeline, record line settlements and whether they occur before or after each new lock. The public page describes the lock sequence but not that timing. If live history groups everything into one final award, do not invent intermediate credits from the visible animation.

Keep Longboats and discount coins outside the King table. Longboats are positional feature triggers on reels one and five; coins relate to buy-in price. Neither should be counted as a King state, even if all three appear during one session.

Finally, note whether the loaded version permits a King Wild to replace the Raven Scatter exactly as the official page states. If it does, capture the Help sentence because this behaviour should not be generalised to Longboats or other special symbols.

  1. Match exact title and provider.
  2. Confirm 95.85% RTP.
  3. Record stake and ten line patterns.
  4. Distinguish partial and full King stacks.
  5. Track reel locks in order.
  6. Capture Longboats on reels one and five.
  7. Record buy-in price and coin discount.
  8. Save round ID and final settlement.

How to verify the version you can actually open

A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.

Start with identity, then configuration

Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Betsoft, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.

When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.

Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration

Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.

Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.

Keep simulation figures in their proper scope

A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.

Audit a disputed round

If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.

Read the paytable as a calculation document

The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.

Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.

Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round

Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.

Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.

Confirm market and device behaviour independently

A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.

On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.

Keep a compact evidence record

For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.

Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.

Use limits that survive the feature design

Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.

No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.

Primary source and correction path

This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
