Total Overdrive multiplier rules and evidence
A practical audit of Betsoft's compact three-reel game, explaining consecutive wins, multiplier persistence and what its unusually high hit-rate figure does not promise.
Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Total Overdrive is listed by Betsoft as live from 6 February 2020. Its official specification contains three reels, five paylines, 96.92% RTP, medium volatility and a 38.10% hit rate. The design centres on an Overdrive Multiplier that rises with consecutive winning spins and can become sticky.
The studio also states that three Wilds award 50× and that Wild replaces every other symbol. The public page does not expose the full paytable, stake range, probability of the sticky state or a formal maximum award. Those limits require current game Help.

Five-line base structure
With only three reels and five lines, the result can be reconstructed without guessing. Open the line diagram and number every path. For each settled spin, record which line formed, which symbols substituted and whether the paytable presents the award in credits, line stake or total stake.
The 38.10% hit rate should not be read as a profit frequency. Any credited result can count as a hit, including one below the total wager. A short sample will naturally deviate from the model, so the figure is unsuitable for predicting the next spin.
Medium volatility describes the intended distribution across a very large sample. It does not neutralise the effect of a rising stake or justify extending a session while waiting for a sticky multiplier.
Consecutive-win multiplier sequence
Betsoft says every winning spin increases the active multiplier and each consecutive win pushes it higher. The most useful way to verify this is a state table rather than a narrative: spin number, base result, starting multiplier, credited multiplier and next displayed state.
A losing spin ordinarily breaks a consecutive sequence, but the sticky condition can hold the multiplier. Do not assume the multiplier applies to the spin that first activates it; compare the animation with the settlement history and Help order.
The official wording says the multiplier rises “without upper limit”. That describes the feature rule on the product page. It is not proof that a deployment lacks an overall win cap, technical ceiling or operator limit. Those are distinct controls.
Sticky multiplier behaviour
The multiplier can become sticky and remain active for a duration even without consecutive wins. Betsoft also says the sticky state can retrigger. The public page does not disclose the trigger probability, initial duration or extension length.
When sticky activates, note the remaining-spin counter immediately after settlement. On every following spin, record whether the counter decreases before or after evaluation. If a retrigger lands, preserve the counter both before and after the extension. This shows whether time is added, reset or replaced.
A sticky multiplier does not mean every held spin wins. It preserves a modifier state; it does not create a paying combination. Budget decisions should use paid spins and actual balance movement, not the brightness of the electricity animation.
Wild substitution and 50× event
The Wild substitutes for all other symbols. Three Wilds award a 50× win according to Betsoft. The word “50×” needs an identified base: the live paytable should show whether it means line stake, coin bet or total wager.
Because there are three reels, a triple-Wild result occupies the full line. Check whether multiple five-line paths can simultaneously read the same three Wild positions or whether the game credits one specific route. The public overview does not resolve this accounting detail.
Keep the Wild award distinct from any active Overdrive Multiplier. History may show a base 50× line followed by a separate multiplier or one combined total. Reconstruct the arithmetic from the settlement, never by multiplying the headline twice.
Worked state example
Suppose spin A wins with the multiplier at 1×. After settlement, the interface advances to a higher state. Spin B also wins, so record both its starting state and the next state. If spin C loses but a sticky hold is active, the displayed multiplier may remain for spin D.
The example illustrates record keeping only. It does not specify the multiplier increments, hold duration or odds because Betsoft’s accessible page does not publish them. Live Help must supply those facts.
If spin D retriggers the hold, save the exact counter change. If it also wins, separate base pay, active multiplier and retrigger animation. Three events can share one screen while having different roles.
RTP and maximum-win boundaries
The 96.92% studio figure is verified. A current stake range and maximum win are not. One Betsoft news article has used a potential figure for this game, but the primary product page does not state a formal cap; a current deployment may present units differently.
Read the loaded Help before publishing a ceiling. If it gives a cash cap and a multiplier cap, preserve both. If operator rules cap payouts separately, label that as operator-specific rather than changing the game’s mathematical maximum.
Never average an alternative percentage with 96.92%. If live Help shows another RTP, publish both with their scope, date and build. A configurable return is evidence of variants, not an invitation to select the larger number.
Mobile continuity test
On a phone, the active multiplier and sticky counter must remain visible alongside total stake. Test whether opening the paytable pauses an animation and whether rotating the device preserves the same state. A condensed interface should still provide round history.
Electric effects may obscure small labels. Use reduced motion if offered, and confirm that multiplier changes also appear numerically. Colour alone should not distinguish active from inactive states.
If connectivity fails during a held sequence, do not start another spin to discover the outcome. Reopen history, match the round ID and confirm whether the hold state resumed. Save the last settled counter before contacting support.
Demo and territorial scope
Betsoft provides a demo link on the official product page. Sponsored destinations in this article are commercial routes, not the official demo. A provider listing does not establish availability in New Zealand or at 22Bet.
Check territorial terms, the authenticated lobby and the loaded Help separately. A missing title in one account is evidence about that account at that time, not proof of a general ban.
Decision profile
Total Overdrive may suit readers who want a compact grid and a clearly visible state machine. The main analytical task is following the multiplier from one spin to the next rather than decoding a large bonus board.
It may be a poor fit for anyone likely to chase a broken sequence. Consecutive-win mechanics make a loss feel like interrupted progress even though every paid decision still needs an independent budget limit.
Session-boundary test
The multiplier is a state that may persist across several settled spins, so the end of a session needs a deliberate check. Before closing the client, save the displayed multiplier, any sticky counter and the last round ID. Reopen the same title without staking and compare the restored state with Help.
If the multiplier resets when the game closes, record that rule. If it survives a reconnect, verify whether its remaining duration also survives. Do not test persistence by placing an avoidable wager: the opening screen and history should supply enough evidence. This distinction helps readers separate a server-maintained feature from an animation stored only in the current client.
Audit checklist
- Match title, provider and 6 February 2020 listing.
- Confirm 96.92% RTP and five lines.
- Record the active multiplier before every spin.
- Separate a normal increase from sticky activation.
- Capture hold duration and retrigger behaviour.
- Verify what the triple-Wild 50× uses as its base.
- Preserve round IDs and closing balance.
- Leave stake and maximum fields unavailable if Help omits them.
FAQ
What RTP does Betsoft list?
The official Total Overdrive page states 96.92%.
What does the 38.10% hit rate mean?
It is a long-run model statistic for credited hits, not the probability of finishing a spin in profit.
How does the Overdrive Multiplier grow?
Each consecutive winning spin increases it; deployed Help should show exact increments and settlement order.
What makes the multiplier sticky?
Betsoft confirms that a sticky state exists and can retrigger, but the accessible page does not publish its probability or duration.
What do three Wilds pay?
The studio states 50×; verify the wager unit in the live paytable.
Is New Zealand access proven?
No. It requires operator-level evidence.

How to verify the version you can actually open
A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.
Start with identity, then configuration
Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Betsoft, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.
When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.
Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration
Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.
Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.
Keep simulation figures in their proper scope
A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.
Audit a disputed round
If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.
Read the paytable as a calculation document
The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.
Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.
Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round
Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.
Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.
Confirm market and device behaviour independently
A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.
On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.
Keep a compact evidence record
For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.
Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.
Use limits that survive the feature design
Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.
No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.
Primary source and correction path
This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
