Spring Tails Rat Wild and Golden Key rules
A practical audit of stacked 3x–5x Wild multipliers, the three-Key trigger and free spins played without low-value symbols.
Supplier sources below. Operator eligibility needs a separate check.

Betsoft lists Spring Tails as live from 20 February 2020. The official specification gives five reels, five paylines, 95.63% RTP, very high volatility and an 8.65% hit rate.
Lucky Rat Multiplier Wilds appear on reels two, three and four with 3x, 4x or 5x values. Their multipliers can stack to a published total of 60x. Three Golden Keys anywhere award 12 free spins, during which low-value symbols are removed.

Five-line base game
With only five paylines, every route can be drawn explicitly. Capture the payline map, direction and minimum matching length from Help. Then trace each stopped result rather than assuming a horizontal-only layout.
The Wild can substitute in standard line wins according to the active paytable. Golden Keys are feature symbols and should not be treated as ordinary substitutes unless Help says so.
The public page does not disclose the complete symbol values, stake limits or maximum win. Keep those fields tied to the operator build.
Lucky Rat Multiplier Wilds
Multiplier Wilds can appear on reels two, three and four. Each carries 3x, 4x or 5x and is added to any win that includes that symbol, according to Betsoft’s wording.
For every affected payline, record its base award, participating Wild coordinates and displayed multiplier calculation. If several Wilds belong to one win, capture how the values combine. The official overview says multipliers can stack and reach a total of 60x, but the exact addition or multiplication sequence must be verified in Help.
Do not apply a Wild multiplier to unrelated paylines. A symbol visible on the same grid contributes only where the rule panel and settlement indicate.
Understanding the 60x statement
Betsoft states that stacked multipliers can add up to a total multiplier of 60x. This is a documented ceiling for the combined feature expression, not a guaranteed result and not a promise that a single 5x Wild becomes 60x.
When several Multiplier Wilds appear, write each face value separately and preserve the game’s calculation screen. Avoid reverse-engineering the formula from one result. A 60x outcome needs the exact contributing line, symbols and multipliers.
The 60x figure also does not describe the game’s maximum win. The official public page does not publish a maximum win value.
Golden Key trigger
Collecting three Golden Key symbols anywhere on the reels triggers 12 free spins. Record the three coordinates, trigger award and opening spin counter.
The public wording says Keys can appear anywhere. It does not identify a progressive collection between paid rounds, so do not describe a stored Key meter without live evidence. Treat the three-symbol event as a single-round trigger unless Help states otherwise.
At feature start, verify that exactly 12 spins are shown. If the interface awards anything different, capture the build and Help revision before updating the article.
Free spins without low-value symbols
All low-value symbols are removed for the duration of the 12 free spins. Capture the base-game paytable first and identify which symbols Help classifies as low value. Then compare the free-spin reel set.
Removal changes the visible symbol pool but does not guarantee a winning spin. Record each spin, payline result and Multiplier Wild separately. The provider page does not publish a retrigger rule, so no extra-spin claim should be made without current Help.
At feature end, confirm that the ordinary symbol set returns. If low symbols remain absent in the next paid round, preserve the round ID and contact support rather than assuming a persistent enhancement.
RTP and very-high volatility
The official RTP is 95.63%. Very high volatility indicates that returns may be uneven, and the published 8.65% hit rate is low compared with many titles. Neither metric predicts the next spin.
A hit can be smaller than the paid stake. Keep stake, ordinary line award, Wild multiplier, free-spin subtotal and final feature credit in separate columns.
Do not use a short session to validate 95.63% or infer the frequency of Golden Keys. The sample can only confirm that the interface applies the displayed rules.
Mobile and legibility
On mobile, the three middle reels and Multiplier Wild labels must remain clearly visible. The difference between 3x, 4x and 5x should not depend on colour alone.
Golden Keys need an accessible label, and the 12-spin counter should remain readable above system overlays. Check landscape and portrait modes without allowing a sticky control to cover the fifth payline.
After reconnecting during free spins, compare the remaining counter and credited subtotal with history. An animation replay is not a second result.
Responsible feature tracking
The three-Key trigger and very-high-volatility label can create long gaps between prominent events. A session limit should not be extended simply because two Keys appeared on a recent spin or because the feature has not yet occurred.
Set the monetary and time limit before play. Treat each round as independent unless the rules explicitly display persistent collection. The article does not claim that a feature is “due.”
Audit checklist
- Match Spring Tails and Betsoft.
- Confirm 95.63% in active Help.
- Capture all five paylines.
- Verify the row count and pay direction.
- Record Rat Wilds only on reels two to four.
- Save each 3x, 4x or 5x face value.
- Trace the affected winning line.
- Capture the combination formula for multiple Wilds.
- Treat 60x as a published stacked total, not a guarantee.
- Save all three Golden Key coordinates.
- Verify the 12-spin opening counter.
- Identify removed low-value symbols from Help.
- Check the ordinary reel set returns afterward.
- Leave local availability unconfirmed without operator proof.
Worked multiplier record
Draw the five paylines and number the stopped positions. If a line contains two Rat Wilds, write each multiplier beside the base line award. Copy the exact on-screen operation before entering the multiplied result.
During free spins, add a column for the reduced symbol set. A Rat Wild result still needs its line-level calculation; the absence of low symbols is a reel configuration change, not a multiplier by itself.
Reconcile the sum of all 12 recorded spins with history. If the total differs, recheck simultaneous paylines and currency-versus-stake units before reporting an error.
Golden Key feature reconciliation
Create a trigger header containing the three Key coordinates, paid stake, opening balance and the displayed 12-spin counter. The Keys establish entry to the feature; they should not be added as ordinary line awards unless the paytable separately assigns a value.
For each of the 12 spins, list the symbols that remain after low-value removal. This confirms that the reduced set persists for the entire feature rather than only the opening spin. Add separate columns for every active payline, Rat Wild face value and multiplied result.
At feature end, total the twelve rows and compare them with the credited feature amount. Then inspect the next paid grid to verify restoration of low-value symbols. If free spins can be added in the deployed build, capture the exact Help clause and place added spins after the original twelve rather than rewriting the starting count.
The audit should also show any zero-award feature spins. Removing low symbols changes the composition but does not guarantee a payout, so omitting losing spins would distort the record.
Retain the original screenshots so another editor can repeat the calculation without relying on the summary.
What is not confirmed
The accessible official page does not establish stake limits, complete paytable values, maximum win, free-spin retriggers, Buy Bonus, operator currency or New Zealand deployment. These omissions are not invitations to import values from another review.
Betsoft’s global demo and catalogue demonstrate that the studio publishes the title. They do not prove that a particular account can load it.
Verdict
Spring Tails has a compact structure: five paylines, middle-reel Multiplier Wilds and a three-Key feature. The challenge is correctly assigning stacked multipliers to individual winning lines and documenting the symbol-set change during free spins.
The official source confirms the central figures. Local limits and missing edge cases remain live-Help tasks.

How to verify the version you can actually open
A provider page proves that a title exists and describes the supplier's intended rules. It does not prove that a casino accepts players in New Zealand, that the title is enabled for a particular account, or that the highest published RTP is the version in the lobby. Treat availability, operator eligibility and product configuration as three separate checks.
Start with identity, then configuration
Open the game only through the authenticated casino lobby. The information or help panel should identify Betsoft, the exact title and the active mathematical return. Compare the reel or grid layout, paylines or cluster rules, named features and symbol behaviour with the official product material. Similar artwork or a matching title is not enough when the help file is missing or inconsistent.
When the supplier publishes several RTP values, report all of them as configurations. Do not assume the highest option is deployed. RTP is a theoretical long-run measure across a very large number of rounds; it is not a refund rate for one player and cannot predict the next result. Volatility is different: it describes how unevenly results are distributed on the provider's scale.
Read stake controls as money, not interface decoration
Provider sheets often quote a reference range in euros. That range does not establish New Zealand-dollar support or the limits in a specific account. Before a paid round, identify the total amount that will leave the balance. If the interface separates denomination, coins and lines, verify the combined total. If Extra Bet is active, calculate its full cost before pressing spin.
Feature-buy prices are multiples of the current bet, not promised returns. A 100x purchase at a $1 stake costs $100; at a $2 stake it costs $200. Availability can vary by market and some mathematical configurations may not support the control. If the live help does not explain the price, delivered feature and active RTP, leave the option unused.
Keep simulation figures in their proper scope
A game sheet may publish a maximum result observed in a large simulation. That is not automatically the contractual maximum payout and never describes a likely session. Preserve the provider's wording, sample size and configuration. Check the live rules for a binding cap and the operator terms for any separate payout limit. Do not turn an extreme result into a promotional headline.
Audit a disputed round
If an animation freezes or a connection drops, do not repeat the wager immediately. Reopen the game through the authenticated lobby and inspect round history. Record the time, total stake, balance movement and round identifier. The result can be settled by the gaming system even when the device never displays the final animation. Send evidence through verified operator support; never disclose a password, recovery phrase or one-time code.
Read the paytable as a calculation document
The paytable should explain what creates a win, which symbols substitute, where special symbols can land and how multiple awards combine. For line games, confirm direction and active paylines. For cluster games, confirm adjacency, minimum group size and the order of collection. For respins, identify what remains locked, what resets the counter and what ends the feature. A graphic effect can illustrate those rules but cannot replace them.
Separate addition from multiplication. Several prize values may be added before a multiplier applies, while reel-specific multipliers can sometimes multiply together only when each reel participates in the same win. Reconstruct one low-stake result from game history. If the arithmetic cannot be matched to the help file, stop and ask the operator rather than guessing.
Do not confuse hit frequency with a profitable round
Provider sheets can publish hit frequency or category probabilities. A hit simply means a round returned a qualifying amount; it can be smaller than the stake. “Big”, “Mega” or “Epic” thresholds are provider reporting categories, not promises. They are useful for comparing mathematical versions only when definitions and samples are the same.
Random outcomes do not become due after a long gap. A feature that appeared repeatedly in a demo or marketing clip has no obligation to repeat in a funded session. Previous rounds do not create a debt from the next random result.
Confirm market and device behaviour independently
A title can exist in the supplier catalogue while an operator disables it for a territory, currency, device or bonus. Language localisation is not evidence of legal availability. Confirm the operator's identity, accepted countries and current lobby separately from the provider review.
On mobile, verify that balance, total bet, feature state and help remain visible without overlap. On desktop, check that browser zoom does not hide a purchase control or change the apparent denomination. Mathematical configuration should not change merely because the screen changes; if the help shows another RTP, treat it as a different deployment and record it.
Keep a compact evidence record
For any fact used in a review, save the title, provider, official URL, document date when available, access date and exact territorial scope. For a live session, add the operator domain, Game ID, RTP, currency and a non-sensitive screenshot of the help panel. This makes later corrections possible when a supplier updates a sheet or an operator changes configuration.
Missing information should remain missing. Do not estimate an RTP from results, convert a euro reference range into an operator's NZD limit, or treat another casino's configuration as evidence. A transparent “not confirmed” is more useful than a precise-looking number without the correct source.
Use limits that survive the feature design
Collection meters, expanding grids, sticky symbols and near misses can make a session feel unfinished. Unless the rules explicitly preserve progress, the visible state has no value after the round or feature ends. Set a money limit and time limit before launch, count feature buys immediately, and stop at the limit even when a meter appears close to an upgrade.
No random game is an income plan. Do not borrow, use essential funds or raise the stake to recover a loss. If play stops feeling recreational, use timeout, deposit-limit or self-exclusion tools and consult the site's responsible gambling guide.
Primary source and correction path
This guide separates documented product information from market availability. Check the official source and the game help inside the exact version offered before making a decision.
